Cloudflare

Cloudflare provides content delivery network (CDN), DNS, DDoS protection, and security services. It is most popular for Cloudflare free SSL Certificate. You can install it to increase security and enable https on your websites. It is available in Free and also paid version.

Many types of SSL certificate is available some are paid and some are free. It gives both types of SSL certificates. You can choose its free plan which gives you a Cloudflare free SSL certificate and some features. It helps to enable HTTP to HTTPS on your website also stops malicious traffic before it reaches your origin web server.

Steps to Install Cloudflare on your site

First, you need to create an account.

After Create Account Login in your Account and Add Site

Enter your Site name- yoursite.com

Choose Package according to your Need.

Choose Free Plan and confirm those Plan.

Review your Domain DNS Record and click continue.

You need to change your Nameserver

Login to your Registrar Account. Where you Purchase Domain Name.
Go to the DNS setting of Domain.
Remove the present server and Update your Nameserver with the Cloudflare server.

DNS update takes time. It depends on your domain provider. After update Click ‘continues‘ and now you can see “Set up security and speed configurations”.

Choose Your SSL/TLS encryption mode- Flexible
On Your Always use HTTPS option.
Minify Javascript, CSS, and HTML.

If you can’t see this option don’t worry you can configure in the SSL/TLS option of Cloudflare.

Now you can choose a Flexible option.
Also on your Always Use HTTPS option in the Edge Certificate tab.

WordPress Cloudflare Setting

You can install the Cloudflare plugin for better security purposes.

Go to the Plugins tab on WordPress and add a New Plugin.
Search Cloudflare, Many plugins are available but you should install original, which is available with high install and logo.
After install activates it.
It appears in the Setting tab.
Go to setting and select Cloudflare.

Log in with your email address and API key. If you didn’t have an API key then you click below the option of “Get your API key from here”. It takes you in a new tab where you can log in account and find the API key.

Login your account.
Go to the API tokens tab.
Click on Global API key View
Enter Password to get key.
Check the API key and Copy.
Paste those API key in the plugin.

Now we will see how to add an SSL certificate on your website absolutely free of cost, so the first step is…

STEP – 1. Log in or Signup to Cloudflare

First, you need to sign in or signup on cloudflare.com. You need to add a site by clicking the ‘Add a SIte’ button, as shown in the image below.

But when you sign up for the first time, Cloudflare will prompt you to add your domain name in the process of registration.

STEP – 2. Add Domain Name on Cloudflare

After clicking on ‘Add a Site,’ Cloudflare will prompt you to add a domain name like the one below shown in the image. You should add your domain name then click ‘Add site.’

STEP – 3. Choose the Cloudflare Plan

If you are a beginner, I will suggest you pick the free plan because Cloudflare provides everything you need to boost your website.

Select ‘Free Plan,’ costing you zero dollars per month, then click ‘Confirm plan’ after selecting the plan.

STEP – 4. Analyze Domain’s Current Nameservers

After picking up the plan, Cloudflare will analyze your domain’s nameservers. In case you have already connected with a web host provider, then Cloudflare will show the nameservers list of your web hosting.

So, keep in mind do not change anything at the process of Cloudflare CDN configuration.

STEP – 5. Setup Cloudflare Name servers

Cloudflare will prompt you to change your website’s name servers because they need to derive all traffic to their servers and provide you quality speed and a free SSL Certificate.

Cloudflare will prompt to remove the site’s name servers and add their name servers, so we will open the site’s registrar dashboard and change the name servers as Cloudflare mentioned.

Note: – don’t copy the name servers as showing above the image because you will get different name servers.

You can see above the image, I have filled the Cloudflare name servers in my domain registrar ‘Crazydomain‘ dashboard. So as you should add your Cloudflare name servers in your registrar dashboard. After filling in the details, click ‘Update.’

STEP – 6. Check Cloudflare name servers status

Now we will return to the Cloudflare site and click “ Done Check Nameservers,” and you will get the Good News from Cloudflare.

STEP – 7. Setup SSL Certificate

Now on the top of the Cloudflare dashboard, you can find the optimizations things so that we will select “SSL/TLS.”

We want SSL Certificate to change something in the “SSL/TLS” menu, so click there.

By default, Cloudflare enables the full mode of SSL/TLS encryption. We have to change in “Flexible” mode, you can see above in the image.

STEP – 8. Check Domain in Browser for SSL

Open any of the web browsers and open your website to check whether you installed an SSL certificate or not.

If you follow these steps, as I have explained for Cloudflare CDN and SSL Certificate, your website will show a secure green lock symbol on the browser.
